Cristina, where are you located?

Rome, Italy

When did you get started in the industry?

I started in 2000, and I am always improving my job offering every year with some new service. I started offering just my private guided tours, now I am able to offer guides, drivers, photographers, chefs, and sommeliers to create unique experiences to my clients.

Walk me through how or why you started in the industry?

I started it as a leisure job while I was writing my thesis for concluding my master degree in conservation of cultural heritage, and within a couple of years chose to be a tour guide as my priority job, due to my passion in traveling and in being in contact with international guests, who make me feel like I am traveling when I am at home.

What do you offer and/or what is your mission? Do you specialize in a specific type of travel or destination?

I offer private guided tours in all Italy. I have developed a trusted team of colleagues with which I have a collaboration. So, I am specialized on the incoming sectors, offering support to book day-trips, food tours, wine testing in Tuscany, private guided tours in all the major italian cities, and private drivers to reach all locations.

What is your favorite part about your job?

I have always been excited to discover some new facets of Italian life and culture and I take great pleasure in sharing my knowledge with my clients.

What is your favorite or dream destination?

I love walking and to discover new places through slow travel, so I would like to go hiking on the Andes mountains to reach the incredible archaeological ruins that are spread on their lands.

What is your favorite travel tip?

My best tip is to absorb the essence of the place being in contact with locals, so book a family-home running house, hire a local guide, and shop to the local shops and markets. In this way you also supporting the local economy.

What other suggestions do you have for travelers?

Don’t get scared of leaving your comfort zone. The more you travel and the more it grows your desire to explore and to know more.
