Colette, where are you located?

New York City

When did you start your blog?

In 2018

Walk me through how or why you started?

I saw that there was no other website or platform that addressed the desire to get to Ireland on a budget, so I created one. When I went in search of a domain, I was pleasantly surprised to find exactly what I wanted. There has been a lot of learning since then (a few mistakes too!), but the site is growing nicely, and I have big plans for it in 2022, so stay tuned!

Do you feature a specific type of travel or area?

Primarily budget travel to the island of Ireland (that includes Northern Ireland too since geographically it’s all part of one land mass). In fact, the tourist authorities north and south of the border work very closely together to promote the whole island and I didn’t see any reason why I shouldn’t either.

What is your favorite part about being a blogger?

Having the ability to be my own boss since I work from home, in addition to learning something new every day (even about Ireland!), but also about the business of blogging since there’s so much involved in it. I’m obsessed about giving my followers as much accurate information as I can find and so digging around for it is part of my mission!

What is your favorite or dream destination?

Ireland of course is my favorite destination but there are so many places in the world that I want to travel to right now. Italy is at the top of my list as is Croatia, Newfoundland, and Iceland.

What is your favorite travel tip?

Consider visiting your favorite destination during the off-peak season. By this, I don’t mean the middle of winter but rather late spring and/or early fall. Prices are lower and tourist lines are smaller.

What other suggestions do you have for travelers?

Read as much about your intended destination as you can so that you know what to expect when you arrive. Consider travel insurance too, a must in these changing times.

What suggestions do you have for bloggers or what has been the biggest obstacle you have had to overcome with your blog?

Don’t give up. When I went into blogging, I had no idea how much time it would take. Building an audience isn’t easy nor is it easy to rank on Google, but if you stay focused, it will happen. This is a mantra that I keep saying to myself daily!

How can our readers follow your travels?

They can follow me on my social channels (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Pinterest). Or sign up for notifications when I post something new to the blog. I also created a Facebook group, which I hope in time will become a valuable resource for people interested in visiting Ireland.
