Michaela, walk me through how or why you started your blog?

I’ve been traveling for over 15 years and have always loved it – with family, by myself, with my husband. I have been fortunate to be able to travel to so many destinations over the past 15+ years. I also became obsessed with basic photography and social media 10+ years ago and love(d) taking photos of everything and anything. I didn’t realize how passionate I was about traveling since it just seemed so natural/routine. I realized over the past year that it would be amazing to share my travels more formally and create an informal blog via my Instagram – everyone in my close circle always knew I loved traveling and loved hearing about my travels so I thought it would be fun to expand my social media and take it seriously to show where I’ve traveled and connect with more people/businesses in the same market to see if it’s something that I could monetize or just have more fun with.

Do you feature a specific type of travel or area?

Mostly New England

What is your favorite part about being a blogger?

Being creative, helping spread awareness/drive demand for other businesses/brands, and building relationships.

What is your favorite or dream destination?

Bucket list destinations include: Australia, South Africa, Belize, Saint Tropez, Cuba, Iceland, Canada… there are a lot 😊

What is your favorite travel tip?

Have fun! Do your research and pick out 1-3 things you really want to see/do and make a goal to see at least one of those things and enjoy the rest of your time exploring or relaxing.

What other suggestions do you have for travelers?

Identify the purpose of your travels – to relax, explore, or other reasons? This will help you set realistic expectations for your trip so that you aren’t disappointed.

What suggestions do you have for bloggers or what has been the biggest obstacle you have had to overcome with your blog?

Obstacles from businesses/brands who aren’t seeing your full potential/value when you start… my suggestion/advice is to be persistent, build relationships, always explain what value you can add. Be authentic. You don’t need to have the most creative content or have the most perfect quality photos, your followers appreciate you being mostly authentic.
