Kylie, where are you based?

Currently located in Las Vegas, NV (We move every few years with the military. We just recently moved here from South Korea and prior to that we were in Italy!)

When did you start your blog?

I started my blog in June of 2019

Walk me through how or why you started?

I started my blog about a year after I met my husband and joined the military life. I used to be an event planner in NYC but moving overseas prevented me from working. Although this sounds like a dream, I was used to a rise-and-grind lifestyle. I needed a job or something to keep me occupied during the day while my husband was at work.

I had recently fallen in love with travel and found myself always daydreaming about my adventures. With being a military spouse living abroad, we were traveling whenever we could. I finally decided to put these amazing adventures and memories to good use and start a travel blog about the places we’ve visited. Once I realized how much I love blogging, I’ve put my heart and soul into it in hopes to inspire other military spouses to take advantage of the amazing travel opportunities the military lifestyle can present.

Do you feature a specific type of travel or area?

I mainly feature places for military spouses to travel around specific U.S. military bases all over the world. I also write about travel fitness, which features ways for travelers to stay fit and healthy while on the road.

What is your favorite part about being a blogger?

When I started my blog, it was mainly a way for me to document my travels for myself and my family to read – I loved being able to relive my adventures through writing. Today, though, when I receive emails or questions asking for my opinion or advice, it is so fulfilling to think that I’m actually helping others! It has been slow growth, but those little wins are what keep me going.

What is your favorite or dream destination?

Thailand, hands-down! I visited with my husband right as COVID was beginning to shut things down in Asia. I was so thankful to have had the opportunity to go there and plan to go back as soon as it is safe to travel again.

What is your favorite travel tip?

Always pack an emergency kit with medicine you would typically use to relieve a cold, allergies, upset stomach, etc. Sometimes it is difficult or impossible to find familiar drugs or vitamins while traveling overseas. Rather than packing bulky boxes or containers of your medicine/vitamins, head to a craft store to pick up a pack of button baggies. These are the tiny zip lock plastic bags that buttons usually come in – they are the perfect size for pills! Remember to grab some small label stickers to label each bag.

What other suggestions do you have for travelers?

The excitement and busyness of traveling can sometimes take a toll on your health and wellness. In order to maximize your trip, do your best to feel your best. Pack healthy snacks and eat the local cuisine in moderation to avoid bloating or weight gain. Drink plenty of water while traveling. Set aside a little time each day to do a quick workout in your hotel, hostel, or out-and-about – it could be yoga, a run/walk, or a bodyweight workout. I promise you’ll feel 100% more energized and ready to explore if you take a little time to put your health first.

What suggestions do you have for bloggers or what has been the biggest obstacle you have had to overcome with your blog?

Stop comparing yourself to how other bloggers are doing and be uniquely you! Everyone has their own journey to find success and fulfillment in their blog.
