Linzey, where are you located?
Costa Rica right now! We are nomadic so we are always on the move.
When did you start your blog?
Summer 2018
Walk me through how or why you started?
We were in Costa Rica, on our first international trip with a baby and I learned so much about traveling with a baby and figured out so many tricks. I always loved writing and I really wanted to share everything I learned, and it gave me a creative outlet.
Do you feature a specific type of travel or area?
I focus on family travel. More specifically, minimalist family travel.
What is your favorite part about being a blogger?
I love knowing I helped someone with an issue or a concern they had about travel. Traveling can be so intimidating or stressful so knowing I helped someone overcome that is very rewarding. Or when someone tells me they went on a trip because of my inspiration, that really makes my day.
What is your favorite or dream destination?
I love Costa Rica, and Southeast Asia. We are dreaming of getting back to SE Asia, specifically Bali, and we also dream about living on a boat and sailing. We have Europe dreams as well. To be honest, our dream list is quite long!
What is your favorite travel tip?
My favorite travel tips always boil down to minimizing and organization. My #1 tip is to use packing cubes to pack everyone’s clothes and to color code them so each family member has their own color. You can fit more in your suitcase and it makes it so much easier to keep your space organized at your destination. I also suggest using a separate compression bag for all the swim gear; swim suits, rash guards, spf, swim shoes, etc. That way, you can throw your bags into your room and get to the pool without having to dig through all the bags.
What other suggestions do you have for travelers?
Setting realistic expectations is huge. Make sure you schedule in time for rest while you travel, especially if you have kids. Don’t overpack and don’t pack things “just in case.” Things that you need “just in case,” can be purchased at your destination.
What suggestions do you have for bloggers or what has been the biggest obstacle you have had to overcome with your blog?
Getting the blog set up was the hardest part. Now that it’s set up, its so fun and easy to work with… but that initial set up was quite the headache. Now it's on cruise control. My suggestion is to be patient and know when to walk away and take a break when technology is getting the best of you.
How can our readers follow your travels?
I update our Instagram pretty regularly at thefamilyfuntour or on the website, at www.thefamilyfuntour.com. I also post articles and travel tips on our Facebook page: facebook.com/thefamilyfuntour
Anything else you would like to share?
Make sure you are having fun! Know that things are always hard, you just pick your hard. Would you rather it be hard at home, doing the same old thing or hard while you are out traveling the world having new experiences?
