Originally from Seattle, US and the South of France, this married travel influencer couple are now based out of California. They've turned travel from their passion to their career having traveled, part-time, and full-time across the globe.
Lauriane and Dominic, when did you start your website and how did you get started?
We originally started travel blogging and photography when we discovered our mutual love of travel in 2015. This led us to create our instagram @CoupleOnTheMap where we share our experiences and travel tips. After creating a travel community and growing our following, we started to help people with similar interests plan their trips. This is how On The Map Voyages started in 2021, and we became travel advisors.
Do you feature a specific type of travel or area?
When we started our travel blog, we wanted to help others by documenting travels from our perspective. With this in mind, we decided to begin our focus in the area of couples travel. While we still love this, we have begun to shift our niche towards luxury style travel on a budget.
What is your favorite part about being a Travel advisor/influencer?
For us, our favorite part is helping others experience travel! Many people do not know how easy it is to travel and as a result never get out into the world. We try to help make things easy for our travel community because we have been there before. When people message us to tell us a tip we recommended helped them out, it always brightens our day.
What is your favorite or dream destination?
This probably changes for us every few months. However one place that has been on our list for a while is the Maldives. We have been dreaming about staying in an overwater bungalow in a beach resort.
What is your favorite travel tip?
The biggest travel tip we give to people is to download the maps of the area you plan to travel in advance. Google maps offers an offline mode that allows you to save destinations and use them later when you are route planning. This has saved us from being lost multiple times!
What other suggestions do you have for travelers?
Prior to going, have a set list of destinations you would like to see. Spend your first day in the destination walking around the city and getting lost. You will likely find some of the things you wanted to see, and some things you did not plan to. Then the next day, you can see the rest.
What has been the biggest obstacle you have had to overcome as a travel influencer?
Keeping your content interesting for all followers! This is something us and many people struggle with when getting started. Just keep going, try to stay creative and try things outside of the box. Eventually you will find your way.
